CCAPP Qualifying Status Program
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work alongside pharmacists to dispense medications, compound prescriptions, manage pharmacy inventory, counsel patients on medication use, and ensure accurate drug distribution in hospital and retail pharmacy settings across British Columbia. You’ll be an essential healthcare professional ensuring patient safety and medication accuracy.
Western Community College holds Qualifying Status with the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP), demonstrating our commitment to meeting national pharmacy education standards. Our comprehensive curriculum covers pharmacology, pharmaceutical calculations, sterile compounding, drug distribution systems, and professional pharmacy practice.
Prior to employment as a Pharmacy Technician in BC, graduates must register with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia (CPBC). Many pharmacy technicians advance to specialized roles in oncology pharmacy, sterile compounding, clinical pharmacy support, or pharmacy management. Your pharmacy technician diploma is your entry to a stable, respected, and well-compensated healthcare career.

Prior to successful admission into this program, applicants need to demonstrate:
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or Mature Student Status (19 years of age or more)
- English 12 with a grade of C or higher (or equivalent)
- Math 11 with a grade of C or higher (or equivalent)
- Biology 12 with a grade of C or higher (or equivalent)
- Chemistry 12 with a grade of C or higher (or equivalent)
Additionally, students will need to submit a proof of English Language Competency by any one of the following pathways:
